There are even Tapas competitions in Spain, where towns and regions
compete to be the makers of THE best recipe.
Today, Tapas are rarely free, but they are well worth the cost. You
will find Tapas everywhere in Spain, but mainly in Tapas bars.
Tapas Bars
Tapas bars,
to all intents and purposes, are the extended living room of the Spanish
people.
They are places to eat, relax, meet friends, watch a soccer game, have
a quiet drink, catch up on the town gossip.
You can get some Spanish Tapas Recipes on my Spanish
Tapas Recipes page, along with a photograph of a Modern Spanish
Tapas Bar in the Old Town of Barcelona that I visited in 2004
If you are interested in making tapas at home, we recommend you get a
copy of TAPAS
The Little Dishes of Spain by Penelope Casas.
Penelope Casas writes about more than three hundred wonderful tapas
that have long been a tradition of Spain. The recipes are straightforward
and easy to make.
Penelope also adds some menu suggestions, for get togethers or parties.
TAPAS The Little Dishes of Spain is a " must have " for anyone that
wants to experience a little taste of Spain.
If you can't wait for the book to be delivered, why not take a look
at our recipe section, where we have a few recipes that will get you
started.
And don't worry about the ingredients, we have provided links
to an excellent source of Authentic Spanish food.
